Review on Swift Networks, Nigeria

Swift Networks  Limited is an  internet  and facilities-based telecommunications services  provide based in Nigeria.  The company was founded in 2002 when it bided and obtained a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) License from Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to provide multi-service broadband connectivity services to businesses and residential subscribers.Since inception, Swift Networks has invested heavily in “next generation” networking technologies to build a multi-service network platform.
Swift Networks holds an exclusive wireless spectrum license from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), allowing it to operate an end-to-end reliable, fibre-like connectivity services in the exclusively licensed and interference-free 3.5GHZ spectrum.

Swift Networks Limited has recently attracted foreign direct investment from The International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Investment Bank and Commonwealth Development Corporation under the Capital Alliance Private Equity II fund scheme managed by Capital Alliance Nigeria. Accordingly, Swift Networks has the requisite financial and organizational resources to become the leading broadband connectivity Services provider in Nigeria. This company is very popular in use with small business and homes.

Many Nigerians have argued that this network is the fastest in Nigeria but there appears to be disparity in reception. Your location sometimes could determine your signal strength hence your user experience. Here are the reviews I could put together on this network. I personally have been using this network since 2013 till date(I use other 3 networks with swift though).

Service Reach

This network is only available in Lagos with plans to kick start in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria.

Comparison with competitors

Swift on my list falls within the top 3 networks in Nigeria. This is one of the best networks you can count on for voice and most especially video calls.

Video and Voice Calls

Excellent.

Products

This company only offers 2 types of modem. Nomad(portable and mobile) and Swift 4G LTE(Home or Office use)

Signal Strength

When I started using swift in 2013, it was indeed the best network I have ever used until 2014 when I began to notice obvious reduction in speed. Swift had multiple downtime in 2015 with a lot of apologies and at a point I felt like they kept apologising for the same thing which made it more annoying.

Compensation

Swift has not been forthcoming with their promises on compensation. Many times when they apologise for maintenance downtime, they never extend your validity period and even the few times they promised to add few days to my validity period, it never happened. My data plan expired exactly same day as scheduled with no extension. I was disappointed.

Since I have been using this network for almost 3 years, they are yet to do any promo on data service.

Data Plans

Data plans are very flexible and pocket friendly. There are daily plans as well as weekly plans.

Offsite Customer Service

If you are lucky to have your calls get through on time, you are rest assured your issue will be or nearly solved by the company's support. However, many a times you never get your call to get through to the customer support team due to the complex voice prompt. There  is no dedicated Account Manager as many people bought their modems from marketers who have no concrete affiliation with swift company or the product itself but hired to sell modems.

Considering the fact that you will be calling the support on a mobile network at a normal call rate; with no assurance that someone is going to pick your calls soon, this makes the entire customer support poor and not pocket friendly.

On-Site Customer Service

If you have the time to visit any of their offices, the staff are well trained and knowledgeable of the products so you are assured of getting your issue resolved before you leave if the issue is not too complex.

Data Roll-Over

Unused data is automatically rolled over to next month. However, you have to renew your service plan the next month in order to access your rolled over data for the previous month.

Product Exchange

You might be able to exchange your old modem for a new one once they notify you of  an upgrade or entire phase out of your current modem. I exchanged my old modem for a new one by adding few money.

Advise to Company

Promos will draw more customers to your network and consider making your customer service number toll-free. Remove the monthly cap on data usage so that customers can still use their data even after one month.
